The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater's College of Business & Economics is committed to preparing our students to work in an environment of corporate responsibility.  This commitment can be found in

Sustainability Defined

Environmental FootprintDevelopment that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.  (The Bruntland Commission, 1987)

Business sustainability is the increase in productivity and/or reduction of consumed resources without compromising product or service quality, competitiveness, or profitability.  (University of Washington Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 2006)

Sustainable Business Travel Study
Interested in sustainability? Do you like to travel? If the answer to these questions is yes then you should consider SAFETY/MANGEMNT 491: SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS IN THE CARRIBEAN in Winterim 2010
 
This course will provide student with hands-on experience with the challenges of, and progress toward, sustainable business practices in two of the leading industries in the Caribbean.  Following two days of instruction on campus the class will travel to Jamaica where they will visit representative companies in the alumina and tourism industries, talk with management on sustainability efforts and certifications, and make their own contribution to the companies’ efforts through team-based sustainability projects.
