IS Help Desk Intern 

Promega Corporation is a worldwide biotechnology leader who develops and markets products used by researchers in the fields of molecular and cell biology, genetic identity, neuroscience, and immunology systems.  Currently we are seeking an Intern to work on our IS Help Desk.  This position works approximately 20 hours per week in shifts of 8:00 am to 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with flexibility as needed for class schedules.  Candidates must be currently enrolled in studies toward a degree in Computer Science or related field.  Candidates must also have their own transportation which is required for occasional equipment delivery.



Duties for this position include:

  • Workstation Imaging:  Image new or replacement PCs with standard Promega applications.
  • Physical Inventory:  Assist in collecting data (serial numbers, asset tag numbers, make/model of machine, etc.) and conducting full physical inventory of all computing equipment.
  • Software Installations:  Install software by visiting employee workstations and physically performing the install.
  • Minor hardware repair and installations:  Minor hardware repairs such as keyboard replacement on laptops or hard drive replacements on desktops, or installations such as CD or DVD burners.
  • Equipment delivery:  Deliver replacements for failing equipment, such as computer mouse, to user's desks.
  • Testing:  Assist with testing of new applications or upgrades.
  • User documentation:  Work with existing IS staff to produce end user documentation.
  • Equipment disposal:  Assist in testing, tagging, and preparing outdated equipment for pickup and disposal.
